Return of the Ibid

"The time has come," the walrus said, to talk of many things. . ."

Anyone should be able to recognise that quote as Lewis Carroll's "The Walrus and the Carpenter," but what does it have to do with what I'm posting? Some, I think, maybe.

See, I'm coming back to campus tomorrow, that is, Friday, January 12th. The only thing is it feels like I'm coming back in August, not January; I feel like I'm starting the first semester, not second. So this is my goodbye from break post. The summer has ended. . .

Except it ended how many months ago???

So I don't know what song to post. Its been bugging me. I was gonna post different lyrics of different songs, but that would fritz up Blogger, and then, lo, more pitchforks. I was thinking of different songs, but Green Day's Good Riddence didn't work (too break-upy), nor did any other song I could think of (why is it that all my "closing of chapters in my life" songs involve breaking up? I mean, its not like that happens to me a lot. . .

So I've decided to throw in the towel and just post a sad goodbye type song, even if its kinda break up, kinda suicidal, kinda depressing. Well, its a James Blunt song (I've listened to the Back from Bedlam album over 10 times this break), called Billy. Hope you all enjoy. I'll be seeing most of you within 24-48-72 hours.

I'm just really excited about this semester. Can you tell?

Billy by James Blunt

Billy's leaving today (don't know where he's going).
Holds his head in disgrace (he can't escape the truth).
He knows the price that he's paid.
He admits that it's too late to admit that he's afraid.
Tomorrow comes. Sorrow becomes his soul mate.
The damage is done. The prodigal son is too late.
Old doors are closed but he's always open,
To relive time in his mind.
Oh Billy.

Billy's leaving today (don't know where he's going).
He's got lines on his face (they tell the story of his pain).
He accepts it's his fate.
He admits it took too long to admit that he was wrong.
Tomorrow comes. Sorrow becomes his soul mate.
The damage is done. The prodigal son is too late.
Old doors are closed but he's always open,
To relive time in his mind.
Oh Billy.

Once he was a lover sleeping with another.
Now he's just known as a cheat.
And he wish he'd had a mirror; looked a little clearer.
Seen into the eyes of the weak.(2x)
Tomorrow comes. Sorrow becomes his soul mate.
The damage is done. The prodigal son is too late.
Old doors are closed but he's always open,
To relive time in his mind.
Oh Billy.

  1. James Blunt has one happy song! They're not all sad! It makes me happy. (Did I already tell you this?)

  3. Wait, is that the same Jenne on top as on bottom?

    Now I'm confused. . .

Which song is happy? Is it on another CD besides his first one?
