If one listens to the beginning of James Blunt's song "Billy" (that's the same song which I previously posted the lyrics to) and the beginning of "Chariot" by Gavin DeGraw, one will hear similar sounding music.
Its a little jarring at first, and was one of the first things I noticed when I heard the song. I just thought I would let you know.
This blog, formally Ibid's Freaking Awesome Blog, has a simple title: Ibidem, from the Latin for "In that same place." Some of the posts here have original content, but many incorporate the thoughts and inspirations of others. Hence Ibidem

Return of the Ibid
"The time has come," the walrus said, to talk of many things. . ."
Anyone should be able to recognise that quote as Lewis Carroll's "The Walrus and the Carpenter," but what does it have to do with what I'm posting? Some, I think, maybe.
See, I'm coming back to campus tomorrow, that is, Friday, January 12th. The only thing is it feels like I'm coming back in August, not January; I feel like I'm starting the first semester, not second. So this is my goodbye from break post. The summer has ended. . .
Except it ended how many months ago???
So I don't know what song to post. Its been bugging me. I was gonna post different lyrics of different songs, but that would fritz up Blogger, and then, lo, more pitchforks. I was thinking of different songs, but Green Day's Good Riddence didn't work (too break-upy), nor did any other song I could think of (why is it that all my "closing of chapters in my life" songs involve breaking up? I mean, its not like that happens to me a lot. . .
So I've decided to throw in the towel and just post a sad goodbye type song, even if its kinda break up, kinda suicidal, kinda depressing. Well, its a James Blunt song (I've listened to the Back from Bedlam album over 10 times this break), called Billy. Hope you all enjoy. I'll be seeing most of you within 24-48-72 hours.
I'm just really excited about this semester. Can you tell?
Billy by James Blunt
Billy's leaving today (don't know where he's going).
Holds his head in disgrace (he can't escape the truth).
He knows the price that he's paid.
He admits that it's too late to admit that he's afraid.
Tomorrow comes. Sorrow becomes his soul mate.
The damage is done. The prodigal son is too late.
Old doors are closed but he's always open,
To relive time in his mind.
Oh Billy.
Billy's leaving today (don't know where he's going).
He's got lines on his face (they tell the story of his pain).
He accepts it's his fate.
He admits it took too long to admit that he was wrong.
Tomorrow comes. Sorrow becomes his soul mate.
The damage is done. The prodigal son is too late.
Old doors are closed but he's always open,
To relive time in his mind.
Oh Billy.
Once he was a lover sleeping with another.
Now he's just known as a cheat.
And he wish he'd had a mirror; looked a little clearer.
Seen into the eyes of the weak.(2x)

Grades
Well, I am unoriginal. I'm just gonna copy and paste my post from 8oclockchaplet.blogspot.com
They finally came. The Grades are in. There is good news and bad news. The good news is that my overall GPA went up, now up to a 2.628 (working towards that 3.3 for Cum Laude). The bad news is that Italian was the sole grade killer this semester, and it did a number. Well, here, you can see for yourself. Remeber, I will be taking classes mostly in History and English from now on, so focus on those credits, and those types of classes.
HIST/ENGL/THEO/CECS 300 - Roman Perspectives B
HIST 301 - Art and Architecture of Rome and Florence B+
ITAL 101 - Elementary Italian D+
PHIL 301 - History of Medieval Philosophy B+
THEO 301 - Moral Theology A-
See, I did fine in everything but Italian. I guess I really don't do languages.
Oh Well.
HERE'S TO NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What to look forward to
A new semester is coming up, and I'm in a mood to write things. What kind of things you ask? Well, here are some of my ideas for interesting things to write, either on the blog or in the Rambler:
Heard that the Civil War was simply an attack against the South? Heard Lincoln was a stupid, illogic nut? Maybe you've heard that the Vatican recognised the CSA as a country, and therefore the war should have stopped at that point? All these and more will be discussed in my essay/ writing thing "The Civil War: Myths and Facts."
In a related theme, I will also discuss the phenomenen of the "South Will Rise AGAIN" people
At the turn of the 20th Century there was a flourishing in writers who, though they perferred different genres of literature, approached the art with a Catholic (or at least a High Anglican) approach, bringing Catholic culture to mainstream audiences. Dr. Schwartz called this movement, in his book of the same name, the "Third Spring." I will examine if this trend is occuring again in today's world, and if this movement, if it does really exist, could have its foundations in our college campus.
Also there will be parts (hopefully) of my long awaited examination of the four types of love.
Expect as well more creative pieces and hopefully movies of art, drama, and maybe a few laughs as well.
Hehehehe
